I was born in the Catlins where I lived until my late teens. I worked as a science technician before developing an interest in the study of psychology. I taught in intermediate schools prior to undertaking advanced training as a psychologist.

I began my career as a Psychologist in 1977 in the then Department of Education Psychological Service in Levin. I later moved to Christchurch. I have been in private practice since 1993 and have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of psychological, behavioural, developmental and emotional disorders of children, adolescents and adults. I have had a long association with the Christchurch Polytechnic Student Health centre. I am a Specialist Report Writer for the Family Court which takes me to a number of towns and cities around the country.

I provide supervision to psychologists and counsellors and am ACC registered both as a sexual abuse counsellor and as a provider of psychological services under the psychological services contract.

About me. I have a relaxed manner and am comfortable working with a wide range of clients, including clients of both sexes, from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, religious persuasions and sexual orientations.
I employ a variety of interventions depending on the circumstances.   These include cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT), narrative therapy, EMDR, schema therapy and cognitive analytical therapy.

From 1 April 2014 a sessional rate of $170 for therapy sessions. There is a higher rate where reporting is required. However full or partial costs may be covered if the referral is through one of several EAP providers, ACC, or the Family Court.
