"This work is for me a genuine vocation. I’ve been in it for 32 years and I’m still full of enthusiasm for it." My training in counselling and psychotherapy has been extensive. My practical involvement has been:
- as a social worker employed in a city agency.
- as a counsellor and counsellor trainer in Life Line (I have been acting Director when necessary).
- as the co-ordinator/co-founder of Samaritans (Christchurch Inc.) I was responsible for the delivery of high-quality, professional counselling to the wider Canterbury area which involved selecting, training and supervising a large group of counsellors.
Currently I work in a private capacity as one of the Durham Centre practitioners. I attend regular supervision while continuing to develop a deeper understanding of how to assist people.
About meFollowing a riding accident I suffered considerable pain which necessitated major life changes. I have also experienced financial hardship and the death of loved ones. This, coupled with years of training and experience have given me patience, understanding and the ability to tune into each individual in their particular struggle. It is a privilege to be part of a person’s journey and to witness their arrival at a new understanding of themselves.
My fees are very reasonable and open to negotiation in cases of hardship.
